Scala Developer

London | Hybrid (4 Days Onsite)

Base Salary up to £85,000

Harrington Starr Has partnered with a sports tech company responsible for building one of the most advanced football analytics platforms in the game.

They are looking to hire a Scala Engineer to help evolve their cloud-based platform and bring engineering leadership to a product used every day by football experts, data scientists, and developers alike.

Responsibilities:

• Backend and infrastructure improvements across a modern, cloud-native stack
• Working across a codebase primarily in Scala with additional technologies (Python, TypeScript)
• Collaborating with teams who live and breathe football, data, and tech
• Supporting a culture of pragmatic, responsible engineering

Key Requirements:

• 2+ years of professional Scala experience
• Good knowledge of cloud based architecture and deployment using, AWS, Docker, and Kubernetes
• Are comfortable with relational/document-based databases
• Passion for sport - specifically football (and ideally understand the analytics side)
• Enjoy taking ownership, leading improvements, and mentoring others
• Bonus scheme (twice yearly, based on company performance)

This is an on-site-first role (4 days/week in our West London office), with flexibility to work remotely 1 day a week. We're not considering fully remote candidates at this time.
