Anna Freud is seeking a Schools Engagement Trainer to join our world-leading mental health charity for children, young people and their families. What You’ll Do

  • Design and deliver high-quality, evidence-based mental health training to education professionals, supporting schools and colleges to create whole-school approaches to mental health and wellbeing.
  • Develop engaging training (in-person and virtual) and identify training needs to address emerging mental health and wellbeing challenges in education settings.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to create, review, and quality-assure training materials and programmes.
  • Build relationships with schools and stakeholders, collect feedback, and measure impact of training.

What you’ll bring

You will be a skilled mental health professional or education leader with a passion for improving children and young people’s wellbeing, bringing expertise in designing and delivering engaging, evidence-based training to schools and education professionals.

  • You will hold a postgraduate qualification in mental health or have equivalent experience as a senior school mental health lead (minimum two years), with relevant accreditation where appropriate (e.g., HCPC, BACP, BPS).
  • You will have at least five years’ experience working with children and young people in a mental health service or education setting with responsibility for wellbeing.
  • You will have experience developing and delivering impactful training, both virtually and in-person, to groups of varying sizes and knowledge levels.
  • You will have a strong understanding of UK school systems and the challenges faced by education professionals in supporting mental health and wellbeing.
  • You will bring excellent communication, relationship-building, and IT skills, creating safe and supportive learning environments.

Key details

  • Hours: Full time (35 hours per week; usual working hours are Monday to Friday, 09:00 to 17:00, with occasional later finishes)
  • Salary: per annum FTE, plus 6% contributory pension scheme
  • Location: Hybrid with substantial in-person work in London schools (approx 3 days per week). May also include home-based delivery of virtual training and attendance at the Anna Freud Centre in King’s Cross, London (4-8 Rodney Street, London N1 9JH).
  • Contract type: Fixed Term Contract – 11 months (Maternity Cover)
