The consulting team has a strong track record of developing and launching forecast subscription services, focused on both the short and longer term. We are constantly striving to improve coverage in the existing products, delivering on Argus’ diversified portfolio of fertilizer services and to identify opportunities to launch new reports.

Fertilizer and fertilizer raw material markets are a core and fast growing part of our consultancy offering. We are currently looking for a passionate, driven and energetic Senior Agricultural Analyst to join the business, focusing on leading our demand work and contributing to our multi-commodity subscriptions portfolio of fertilizer outlooks and analytics.

The role will be supporting fundamental fertilizer demand analysis as a major contribution to Argus fertilizer services, from both the short-term to longer-term outlook perspective. The role will include collaboration with our data science team and subject matter experts (SMEs) in different fertilizer sectors. Depending on the seniority of the candidate the role would include developing Argus’ client-facing capabilities of the fertilizer demand forecasting, including presentations at webinars, client meetings and conferences.

The role is essential in the overall fertilizer analytics portfolio. Our fertilizer consulting analytics team is represented by 17 personnel primarily based in London, but also with colleagues supporting from our offices in India and China. The role will include liaising with other fertilizer analysts and will be essential in building supportive and inclusive work culture especially for more junior team members.

What Will You Be Doing

Management of Argus Fertilizer Demand Research & Analysis

You Will Be Expected To Maintain Fertilizer Demand Analysis Jointly With SMEs And Contributing To Both Outlooks And Analytics Portfolio, Including

  • Quarterly analytics services; quarterly publication-style content and annual reports focused on medium-to-long-term forecast horizon and fundamental analysis of the fertilizer demand (primarily on urea, phosphates, potash, and ammonia)
  • Monthly outlook services; monthly publications, focused on short-term forecasts (12-24 months) with support primarily focused on agricultural markets and their implications to fertilizer demand
  • Support SMEs with subscriber meetings, including joint presentations requiring demand outlook support, helping with demand-related enquiries, contributing to webinars
  • Representing Argus as a Fertilizer Demand Analyst at fertilizer industry events
  • Liaising with colleagues in the data science team to develop our demand analysis further
  • Maintaining Argus fertilizer affordability tracker and developing it further

Work with fertilizer product managers and analysts to share best practices in improving production processes and timeliness of Argus fertilizer demand analysis. Engage with the in-house data science (and other development) teams within Argus to support implementation of improvements to analytical techniques and product functionality.

  • You will liaise with Argus staff to ensure current knowledge of Argus products and maintain current knowledge of major drivers and trends across fertilizer markets.

Skills And Experience

Fertilizer industry experience (preferable), most likely gained in either:

  • Market analysis
  • Agriculture analysis
  • Educated to degree level (2.1 or above) from a leading university. Further education (e.g., MBA) a plus.
