Philanthropy & Alumni Engagement (P&A) provides a fundraising and alumni engagement function in support of King's College London. About the role

King's College London is looking to recruit an ambitious Senior Alumni Manager (Experience) to provide excellent leadership of the alumni experience section, with strategic oversight of building King's flagship initiatives, benefits and services in preparation of King's next philanthropy and engagement campaign.

As Senior Alumni Manager (Experience) you will have oversight of all aspects of the alumni experience. Working closely with colleagues across Philanthropy, Advancement Communications and the wider university, you will drive the strategy to engage our global alumni community through a comprehensive programme of in-person and digital initiatives, benefits and services. This includes oversight of the award-winning King's Experts Series, King's Distinguished Alumni Awards and recent graduate engagement, finding opportunities for alumni to stay connected.

You will lead the priority alumni audience, develop the programme and manage a portfolio of influential alumni. Integral in developing stronger connectivity with senior alumni and rising stars, you will curate meaningful opportunities to bring these important stakeholders closer.

As an exceptional relationship builder, you'll use communication skills and a high level of cultural competency, combined with the ability to rigorously plan to deliver a diverse portfolio of activities within a changing landscape. You will have the ability to influence a range of internal and external stakeholders and strong people management skills to support and develop team members. Finally, you will be a strategic and creative thinker, and confident trialling new approaches to engage and inspire our most influential alumni.

This is a full-time post (35 hours per week), and you will be offered an indefinite contract. P&A has a hybrid working approach, with a minimum of 40% of time in the office. Typically, this equates to two days per week, but we're very happy for colleagues to be in more frequently if they so wish.

About You

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:

Essential criteria

  1. Substantial experience of working in a relevant audience engagement role, for example within higher education, a membership organisation or charity
  2. Excellent relationship building skills, with knowledge of best practice high-level alumni engagement
  3. Proven track record of building and maintaining relationships with a variety of stakeholders
  4. People management experience
  5. Experience developing complex projects, mass engagement initiatives, and bespoke opportunities for senior audience members
  6. Able to set objectives, measure performance and budgets, and achieve ambitious KPIs
  7. Experience of developing and delivering services based on colleague and audience feedback, understanding their needs and expectations to tailor future planning
  8. Able to prioritise, make decisions independently and think creatively and laterally

Desirable criteria

  1. Experience using a relationship management CRM database
  2. Knowledge of digital engagement tools such as webinars and/or online community platforms
  3. Strong cultural competency with experience of working with individuals from different backgrounds and international audiences
