Are you looking to take the next step in your company secretarial career? We have an exciting opportunity to join our Group Company Secretariat team as a Senior Assistant Company Secretary. As part of Royal London, the UK's largest mutual life, pensions, and investment company, you’ll play a vital role in supporting our company secretariat function, ensuring best practice governance and compliance. You'll have the chance to contribute to projects that shape the future of our business and add genuine value at the heart of our operations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide governance advice and support to senior stakeholders, including Board and Committee Chairs, INEDs, Executives, and functional leads.
  • Work as part of the Company Secretariat Team on the operational framework and change activities.
  • Act as the secretary to Senior Board and Executive Management Committee(s).
  • Act as a governance advisor to Board and Board Committees, to provide guidance on corporate governance best practices and developments.
  • Monitor changes in corporate legislation and the financial services regulatory environment and take or recommend action as appropriate.
  • Embed best practice, improvement, and innovation across the Company Secretariat team.
  • Provide mentoring, coaching and training to other members of the Company Secretariat team, supporting their continuous professional development.
  • Set a distinct and consistent tone, championing effective risk consideration and management.

About You

  • Fellow/Associate of the Chartered Governance Institute, Lawyer with governance experience, or similar.
  • Have experience supporting governance and company secretarial activities within a regulated environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines, maintaining high standards under pressure.
  • Reliable, confident, self-motivated, self-starter who strives for continuous improvement.
  • Excellent communicator with highly developed interpersonal and influencing skills.
  • Building relationships with key stakeholders throughout the business, including proactive management of good relationships with non-executive directors.
  • Embodies a customer focused mindset.
  • Proven attention to detail and extremely well organised.
