Overview
Senior Associate Consultant is the second level of the Solici consulting career path and provides an opportunity to continue building a strong foundation for a successful career in consultancy. You will be part of integrated project teams spanning research and analysis, consulting and client leadership, operating autonomously and acting as a role model for Associate Consultants, while continuing to develop your existing expertise in competitive intelligence to support clients in the pharmaceutical industry to understand their competitive environment and make key strategic decisions for their assets. Solici's consulting career path provides opportunities to progress internally into more senior roles with greater client and project management, leadership and business development.
Responsibilities
Research planning — Partner with consulting and research colleagues to develop robust research plans, including key milestones and deliverables, to support successful project delivery and maximise client satisfaction.
Briefing researchers — Clearly brief research colleagues to identify relevant data sources for updates on competitive landscapes; conduct primary research as agreed and provide honest, professional feedback to improve outputs.
Formulating client-ready output — Review and develop primary and secondary research outputs into insightful content, creating concise, readable client-friendly slide decks and emails with key findings and actionable implications.
Project team and client interaction — Coordinate agendas and minutes; participate in internal meetings with project teams and external meetings with clients.
Conference coverage — Attend conferences in the UK and overseas to deliver high-quality coverage, engage with key opinion leaders and commercial sources, and write daily research outputs into clear summaries.
Workshop support — Contribute to workshop materials and assist facilitators on the day (e.g., transcribing discussions).
Commercial awareness — Develop awareness of project scope and profitability and build a broad understanding of external market trends and client challenges.
Business development — Research and contribute to proposal materials and pitches; represent the company in external settings.
Quality control and colleague development — Review work, coach colleagues, and coordinate efforts to ensure high-quality outputs from project teams.
Continuous improvement — Apply past project experience to contribute to more effective and efficient ways of working in line with CHR strategy and culture.
Requirements
Together with degree-level qualifications in life sciences, you will have already developed a strong foundation for a career within consulting, typically through at least 18-24 months working within competitive intelligence. Demonstrable capability and achievements are of greater importance than tenure. You will also be able to demonstrate the following:
Planning, organising and prioritisation skills to deliver milestones on time
IT skills across the Microsoft suite (especially Excel and PowerPoint)
Primary and secondary research skills to identify appropriate data sources
Analytical skills to convert research into client-friendly outputs
Written and verbal communication skills to collaborate effectively and develop impactful materials with a clear narrative
Attention to detail to ensure high-quality outputs

Motivation to develop specialist expertise in research requirements (e.g., therapeutic areas, data sources)
Other
Flexibility and willingness to travel to and cover conferences in the UK and overseas throughout the year.
