Overview
Senior Associate - Employment, Pensions & Immigration at Stevens & Bolton LLP. We are seeking a qualified employment solicitor (Senior Associate) to join our top-ranked employment, pensions and immigration team. The ideal candidate will typically have around 5–7 years’ PQE, gained in a City firm or leading national or regional practice. Exceptional candidates with more or less PQE may be considered.
Key attributes include strong drafting, negotiation and interpersonal skills, with a proven track record across the full range of employment work, a focus on advising employers, and a drive for business development. The role is based in Guildford with flexible hybrid working (2–3 days in the office). While advertised as full‑time, part‑time arrangements (commonly four days per week) will also be considered.
Responsibilities
- Provide employment law advice for employers across contentious and non-contentious matters, including drafting and negotiating documentation, restructures and TUPE matters.
- Support employment considerations in corporate transactions and M&A from an employment perspective.
- Advise directors, senior executives and individuals on employment issues, including terminations and settlement agreements.
- Deliver high-quality client service, manage a varied workload, and contribute to business development and client relationship management.
- Collaborate with the immigration and pensions teams on cross‑practice matters, including sponsorship compliance and right‑to‑work checks.
Qualifications and Experience Essentials
- Experience advising employers on a range of contentious and non‑contentious employment law and HR issues.
- Experience providing employment support in connection with corporate transactions and M&A.
- Experience advising directors, senior executives and individuals on employment issues, especially terminations and settlement agreements.
- Excellent technical ability, drafting skills and attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate concisely with clients from diverse backgrounds.
- Highly motivated, responsive and reliable; able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Able to manage a varied workload with multiple ongoing matters.
- Dedicated to delivering client service to the highest standards and maintaining client relationships.
- Commercial awareness.
