Why join us? Due to a continuously growing client base and caseload, the Insurance Casualty team in Birmingham are currently seeking a Senior Associate (potentially a Director) to join their team.
The Casualty team works with a prestigious client list that continues to grow; many of whom are household names. They provide expertise in complex catastrophic and large loss claims. The team manages a varied defendant caseload including Casualty, EL/PL, Abuse, Public Sector Utilities and Product Liability.
We are seeking a strong legal professional with significant experience handling defendant abuse claims including vicarious liability and public sector abuse and/or claims against social services professionals.
The role is hybrid, with office attendance required in Birmingham 2 days per week.
Responsibilities
- Ensuring, in conjunction with senior fee earners, that cases are progressed as quickly and efficiently as possible.
- Strong technical ability to include a thorough grasp of principles, case law and topics.
- Working with our valued and long-standing clients to understand requirements and manage cases in line with service level agreements and best practice.
- Prioritising work effectively and maximising efficiency in working practices.
- Building stakeholder relationships both internally and externally.
- Developing your technical and commercial knowledge via training or working practices.
Essential
- Qualified with experience of handling in your own right or supporting senior team members on a defendant Casualty caseload, including significant experience with Abuse claims.
- Strong advocacy skills and experience representing clients at inquests.
- Ability to manage complex caseloads and work independently.
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Commitment to providing high-quality legal services and client care.
Desirable
- Experience handling EL/PL, Public Sector Utilities or Product Liability claims.
