Waracle Edinburgh, Scotland, United Kingdom Senior Backend Developer • Waracle Waracle, a world‑class digital technology consultancy based in Edinburgh, is looking for a Senior Backend Developer to join our team of specialists. We work with ambitious clients to solve their biggest business and customer challenges by designing and delivering intelligent digital products and services. This hybrid role offers flexibility to work from one of our offices in Dundee, Glasgow, Edinburgh or London. Responsibilities

Designing and delivering end‑to‑end backend features and subsystems with a focus on C# and .NET. Optimizing service performance, scalability and resilience, including query tuning, caching, threading, and memory management. Guiding the testing strategy across unit, integration and service‑level tests and maintaining robust application security. Leading the delivery of features or workstreams and helping to define requirements with clients. Conducting peer reviews, mentoring others across the practice and summarizing discussions into clear actions for the team.

Qualifications

Proven proficiency in C# and the .NET framework (or .NET Core) in a commercial environment. Extensive experience designing, building and maintaining scalable and resilient backend systems. Demonstrable experience in a senior capacity, including leading workstreams and driving technical direction. Demonstrable experience with database technologies and optimizing application performance (e.g., query tuning, caching). Ability to confidently present demos to clients and stakeholders, and explain technical trade‑offs in plain language. Familiarity with cloud platforms such as Azure or AWS and modern CI/CD practices. Excellent organisational, presentation and communication skills, with the ability to engage with a wide variety of personalities.
