Senior Backup and Recovery Engineer Join Manchester Digital to design and run backup solutions across cloud and on‑prem environments. You’ll work with architects, engineers and delivery teams to keep services secure, available and resilient. Your impact will shape the UK’s most important public services. What you’ll do
Design, implement and migrate backup solutions using Rubrik across multi‑cloud (AWS, Azure, OCI, GCP) and on‑prem infrastructure. Integrate Rubrik with external platforms (ServiceNow, Splunk, vSphere, Azure AD) using REST APIs, Ansible automation, and maintain repeatable, scalable, resilient, highly available solutions. Apply service management frameworks (ITIL, Incident, Problem, Change, SLAs) to deliver minimum viable solutions and prioritise the most impactful work. Support audit and regulatory compliance efforts related to data protection, GDPR, DORA and organisational impact. Mentor junior colleagues, review service audits and drive improvement plans across Linux and Windows environments.
What we’re looking for
Hands‑on experience in implementation, migration, operations and support of backup applications. Proficiency with Rubrik and multi‑cloud backup, and integration with ServiceNow, Splunk, vSphere, Azure AD via REST APIs and Ansible. Strong understanding of cloud compute, storage, and configuration for repeatable, scalable and resilient solutions. Experience with ITIL‑based service management and risk frameworks. KPIs oriented, result‑driven, with a passion for stability, resilience and security. Knowledge of regulatory frameworks (GDPR, DORA) and data protection compliance.
What we offer Hybrid working – a mix of home and face‑to‑face in a hub. Pay – up to £68,517. Pension – civil service pension with 28.97% employer contributions (£16,000 per year).
