About the opportunity

At Jacobs, our Building Services (MEP) team designs the future of smarter, greener, and more resilient buildings. We work across sectors including healthcare, education, transport, energy, data centres, residential high-rise, and more. We are seeking a Senior Building Services Design Engineer - Electrical to join our UK buildings team (locations: Birmingham, London, or Manchester).

As a senior professional, you will lead the functional delivery of multidisciplinary projects, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to team development, resource planning, and continuous improvement. You’ll own your work from planning to high-quality outputs, manage scope and client communications, and help identify value-adding opportunities. You will also support recruitment, budgeting, policy development, and represent Jacobs in client meetings to strengthen relationships and win future work.

We have a strong pipeline of projects across the globe, with a focus in the Middle East, aviation, and power and water infrastructure. Travel opportunities are available for those interested in projects beyond the local environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead the delivery of electrical building services projects, often multidisciplinary, ensuring scope, time, cost, and quality targets are met.
• Mentor and develop junior staff; support resource planning and continuous improvement.
• Take ownership of planning, task prioritisation, calculations checking, and ensuring high-quality outputs.
• Manage scope, fees, and client communications; identify value-adding opportunities.
• Represent Jacobs in client meetings and contribute to winning future work.
• Support strategic activities such as recruitment, budgeting, and policy development.
• Travel for project opportunities as required.

Qualifications

• Proven project design experience in building services electrical engineering.
• Degree in Building Services Mechanical Engineering or equivalent qualification/experience.
• Proficient in Revit MEP, AutoCAD, Dialux, Amtech; building regulation compliance assessments.
• MCIBSE / MIET C Eng accreditation (or actively working towards it).
• Strong knowledge of UK building regulations.
• Experience integrating sustainable technology.
• Proven project leadership and people management capabilities.
• Excellent technical skills and attention to detail; ability to deliver high-quality, innovative solutions in a multidisciplinary environment.
