The MDU are recruiting a Senior Business Analyst role supporting one of our largest projects, the Synthesis programme. Initially – a strategic initiative replacing the legacy policy administration platform with a scalable, future-ready solution. While the role will initially be dedicated to Synthesis, the successful candidate is expected to contribute to future enterprise change and digital delivery initiatives. The role suits a fast-learning, highly personable analyst with a strong focus on agile software delivery, stakeholder engagement, wireframing capabilities, and experience defining and shaping system capabilities – particularly across Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Power Apps.

Key Responsibilities

Software & Capability Delivery

• Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and refine business requirements for new and enhanced software solutions and digital capabilities
• Capture requirements – including use of user stories, feature-level descriptions, and annotated wireframes
• Lead backlog refinement and facilitate Three Amigos sessions to drive alignment between business, development, and testing
• Run effective workshops and planning sessions, working alongside architecture and development teams to shape backlog items and guide solution design
• Define acceptance criteria in collaboration with QA and support test planning to ensure quality outcomes and traceability against user stories
• Track progress and surface risks, blockers, and delivery issues in stand-ups and status meetings
• Support change initiatives through targeted communications and user enablement, including demos or training sessions

Programme Contribution

• Define epics, user stories, and acceptance criteria aligned to the programme’s solution scope and business objectives
• Support the end-to-end solution lifecycle across business operations, digital systems, and service workflows

Delivery Alignment & Backlog Management

• Manage backlog in Azure DevOps, ensuring readiness for sprint planning, development, and testing (Jira experience advantageous for those new to ADO)
• Collaborate directly with business stakeholders and development teams to refine backlog items and ensure clarity, feasibility, and successful execution
Business Analysis & Solution Design

• Use UML, BPMN, and structured modelling to represent processes, systems, and data flows
• Define and document data types, flows, sources, and integration points
• Collaborate on system implementation and configuration across Dynamics 365 and Power Apps platforms

Visual Communication & Wireframing

The role relies heavily on clear visual thinking and wireframing expertise. You will:
• Create wireframes, screen flows, and journey mock-ups to express design intent
• Accelerate stakeholder feedback through visual assets
• Support design alignment when UX or CX resources are unavailable
Tools may include Figma, Balsamiq, Visio, Lucidchart, or similar.

Essential Skills & Experience

• Experience as a BA in software development, change management, or digital transformation projects
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
• Excellent communication and people skills for effective stakeholder engagement
• Experience defining user stories, functional requirements, and supporting test planning
• Wireframing and visual prototyping capabilities
• Working proficiency in Azure DevOps; Jira familiarity is a plus
• Skilled in process and system modelling (UML, BPMN)
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Power Apps is highly desirable

Preferred Skills & Qualifications

• Familiarity with Agile and traditional delivery methodologies
• Understanding of user experience (UX) principles and best practices
• Certification in Business Analysis (e.g. BCS or equivalent) is an advantage
