Overview
The Amazon Japan Books team is looking for an innovative and result-oriented person based in Tokyo or Seoul to work on building new features of our Books business, which drives the growth in our selection. This person will build and manage relationships with a new group of publishers, dive deep into both qualitative and quantitative data, define a plan with an entrepreneurial mindset and execute it. The ideal candidates should be customer-centric, innovative, entrepreneurial and analytical with a strong bias for action. The person in this role works in a cross-functional and multi-national environment and is comfortable communicating with both technical and business stakeholders. - Focus: build and manage relationships with new publishers and drive growth in the Books business
Responsibilities
- Building and managing relationships with a new group of publishers
- Taking the lead to identify, evaluate, negotiate, and manage strategic partnership deals that delight customers and support strategic objectives
- Help set strategy and plan in our new business models together with the team
- Be responsible and strategic on the P&L performance of the publishers you work with
- Become a Books expert who understands industry trends, competitive environment and readers’ needs and innovates in response
- Work with vendors outside JP as well; understand both countries
- Develop business and product requirements, prioritize needs and manage milestones with input from internal/external stakeholders
- Deliver results by working with key internal stakeholders (other vendor managers, product management, legal, marketing)
- Leverage data analysis to research difficult or ambiguous problems, leading cross-functional teams to drive recommendations to senior leadership
- Preferred experience: Working with creator communities for either user-generated content or professionally produced content
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree
- 5+ years of relevant business experience
- Fluent in Korean and English
- Special affinity and demonstrated skill with analysis and reports, including excellent Microsoft Excel knowledge
- Track record of innovation and delivering measurable results
- Strong communication skills and assertive abilities on all levels including negotiating and influencing leaders both internally and externally (including C-level executives), while maintaining the ability to be vocally self-critical and seek feedback
- Ability to creatively think big about new ideas to delight customers and grow readership
- Significant personal initiative, creativity, and team spirit
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Demonstrable years of professional experience ideally in e-commerce, entrepreneurialism, finance or consulting
- Japanese language
- Experience with SQL and/or other analytical tools
- Enthusiasm for the world of books
