Senior CAD Designer

Due to continued growth, our clients seeking a Senior CAD Designer to join our Design team in our head office in Hertford, Hertfordshire or Thetford, Norfolk, with a potential to WFH to be discussed.

In this role, you will lead the design and development of acoustic enclosures and related products, playing a key part in transforming engineered solutions and customer requirements into products that are functional, cost-effective, and manufacturable.

We specialise in varied and bespoke acoustic packages, ranging from simple louvred screens to complex multimillion-pound projects and you will be responsible for site surveying, producing drawings, and coordinating the design of projects in the UK and Europe.

Working in a fast-paced environment, the successful candidate must have a proven track record in 2D CAD, strong organisational skills, and the ability to prioritise workload. They must also be able to communicate effectively at all levels and appreciate customer care. Previous experience with a noise and vibration control manufacturing business is preferable. However, experience in sheet steel and structural steel fabrication is a must.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced designer to take ownership of projects, mentor junior colleagues, and drive innovation across our product range.

Responsibilities include:

  • Carrying out dimensional site surveys on projects throughout the UK and in Europe.
  • Attendance at design meetings, both on site and online.
  • Production of general arrangement drawings.
  • Production of detailed manufacturing and installation drawings.
  • Coordinate design with customers, suppliers, and other stakeholders.
  • Production of as-built drawings.
  • Mentoring & Coaching of junior and mid-level colleagues.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Experience at a manufacturing business producing sheet metal products or structural steel.
  • Have a good understanding of installation best practices.
  • Ability to multitask and manage time effectively.
  • Ability to communicate, both in writing and in person, in a professional manner at all levels.
  • Excellent knowledge of 2D AutoCAD.
  • Have a full driving license and passport, and a willingness to travel abroad for work occasionally.
  • Flexibility and ability to learn quickly.

  • Knowledge of Autodesk Inventor and/or Revit is advantageous.
  • Relevant training/qualifications could be beneficial.

What we offer you

  • £50k to £60k per annum.
  • 25 days per annum (3 days to be taken between Christmas and New Year).
