Where will you be working?

As an organisation, there is little we don’t do and plenty to get involved in. Our Group Support roles are vital in making sure we can help over 11,000 people deliver essential infrastructure seamlessly across water, energy, transport and telecom.

This role is in ourProcurement department,our Procurement team source, purchase and manage our products and services to ensure the right quality and delivery.

What will you be doing?

As our Senior Category Manager, you’ll sit at the heart of our Group-wide procurement strategy—steering change, shaping long-term plans, and collaborating closely with senior leaders to deliver outcomes that truly drive the business forward.

You’ll be responsible for leading the creation and delivery of our long-term procurement vision, overseeing a broad spectrum of third-party spend across works materials, equipment, and all indirect spend (excluding IT). Your work will have real impact—helping us manage risk, harness supplier relationships, and spark continuous improvement across the board. You’ll be a trusted deputy to our Head of Group Procurement, someone who can step in seamlessly and support at a strategic level.

What makes this role special is the mix of operational oversight and strategic influence. You’ll be identifying efficiencies, running complex sourcing projects, and leading contract negotiations that benefit the whole Group. You’ll also help streamline our supplier base, ensure compliance, and elevate procurement as a powerful contributor to our collective success.

Leadership is a big part of this role. You’ll guide and support our team of Category Managers—coaching, developing and driving results through them. You’ll foster strong relationships with key vendors, championing quality and performance, while nurturing a high-performing, future-focused procurement team.

And you won’t be standing still. You’ll be continuously looking at how we work—spotting opportunities to evolve our tools, systems and processes, and helping take us further on our procurement transformation journey.
