About the Role

The Senior Category Manager manages the full supplier category lifecycle, from establishing the category plan and aligning with business and technology roadmaps, to market evaluation, negotiation, contract signature, and ongoing supplier governance to secure value and explore cost savings or innovations.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Support procurement activities for the defined business area, including supplier lifecycle management from selection and contracting to in-life management.
  • Deliver sustainable savings targets, manage risk, performance, and governance for suppliers, and ensure alignment with ESG plans.
  • Focus area: Professional Services; advancing category plans and building a sourcing strategy with end-to-end execution, market assessments, complex negotiations, and onboarding through due diligence.

Category Management & Sourcing

  • Establish and maintain category plans aligned with business and technology strategy to create commercial value and meet roadmaps and demand commitments.
  • Lead end-to-end sourcing activities, including market assessments, supplier negotiations, and contract development; ensure value delivery and contract protections for HL.

Supplier Management

  • Establish a robust governance framework to manage supplier relationships, measure performance and risk, and safeguard HL’s brand.

About You

  • Experience working with senior stakeholders to build category plans, drive cost savings, and deliver supplier governance.
  • Excellent negotiation and problem-solving skills with experience in high-value, complex negotiations.
  • Ability to challenge the business constructively to secure sustainable savings and value.
  • Experience coaching Contract Managers to enhance commercial value across the supplier lifecycle.
  • Knowledge of technology environments (cloud, AI, automation), and ability to mitigate risks through strategy and negotiation.
  • Understanding of regulatory landscapes in Financial Services and familiarity with outsourcing guidelines.
  • Strong data analytics skills to interpret financial, economic, risk, and contractual data and present insights clearly.

Interview Process

The interview process is two-stage, including technical competency questions and a presentation.

Working Schedule

The role is permanent, full-time (37.5 hours/week), Monday to Friday. Office based in Bristol, BS1 5HL, with hybrid working available (1–2 days in the office).
