Job Description:

Senior Chemical Process Engineer

Full-Time / Hybrid

Derby, Raynesway

We are looking for capable, experienced, and proactive individuals to join our growing team and lead chemical process engineering packages. These high-impact roles are ideal for experienced engineers who thrive on technical complexity, process rigor, and innovation with purpose.

This is an opportunity to use your deep experience in chemical engineering to contribute to the regeneration of the Raynesway Nuclear Licensed Site. This major infrastructure program involves replacing current facilities with modern, state-of-the-art manufacturing capabilities.

You will work across multiple projects and lifecycle stages to ensure your responsibilities meet engineering and project requirements. Interaction with internal and external stakeholders is essential. You will be supported by a community of around 3,000 engineers in the Submarines business, with training and development opportunities.

The role is based in Derby with hybrid working options.

While experience with nuclear facilities is advantageous, we welcome applications from those interested in redeploying their capabilities in new areas. The key is having the right approach—working with and influencing engineers from other disciplines to integrate chemical engineering into overall engineering solutions.

Responsibilities include:

Candidate profile:

We seek candidates with a Chemical/Process Engineering degree or similar, with experience in designing, constructing, and operating nuclear and/or conventional facilities within the UK. Familiarity with Nuclear Site Licensing Conditions, SAPs, and TAGs is advantageous.

Experience with high hazard sites (e.g., COMAH), process safety tools, modern control principles, and nuclear safety case production is desirable. Candidates should be Chartered Engineers or working towards Chartered/Incorporated status.

Why join Rolls-Royce?

We are a globally recognized leader in innovation, designing systems that provide critical power with safety and reliability. We foster an inclusive, innovative culture with growth opportunities and excellent benefits, including hybrid working arrangements.

We are committed to diversity and inclusion, believing that diverse perspectives drive success. To work in our Submarines business, applicants must hold a UK Security Check clearance; Rolls-Royce will support this process.
