Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage civil engineering projects, including design, planning, construction oversight, and technical analysis.
  • Prepare or check technical reports, specifications, drawings, calculations, risk assessments and method statements.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant standards, codes, and regulations in all design work.
  • Review and evaluate design concepts to optimize performance, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Adhere to company policies, procedures, and safety standards at all times.
  • Drive continual improvement through championing improved systems and operations.
  • Contribute to health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Build resilient, trusting relationships with high-value clients.
  • Collaborate with the wider team and clients to understand project requirements, constraints and opportunities.
  • Attend design team and client meetings, contributing insights as required.
  • Deliver excellent client service through effective communication, exemplar project delivery and subject matter expertise.
  • Maintain high technical standards in client work.
  • Actively manage and lead those reporting to you; support their professional development.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address design challenges and drive continuous improvement.
  • Identify learning opportunities relevant to the role and those you supervise.
  • Participate in company reviews and goal setting sessions.
  • Contribute to continual update and improvement of company processes and procedures.
  • Share relevant insights with the wider business.
  • Complete and submit weekly timesheets.
  • Prepare estimates and quotes.
  • Maintain accurate forecasting of ongoing project financials and resourcing needs.
  • Manage monthly invoicing of projects.
  • Cultivate and grow your professional network.
  • Build and maintain a social presence as a subject matter expert; attend networking events to promote awareness.
  • Identify opportunities to provide resource to other departments within the business.

The ideal candidate will bring

  • Proven consultancy experience with exposure to housing development, energy infrastructure, and highways.
  • Strong client-facing skills, with the ability to build trusted, lasting relationships.
  • Technical proficiency in Civil 3D design, earthworks modelling, and drainage network modelling.
  • Additional knowledge in Flood Risk Assessments, CAD, and Transport Assessments is advantageous.
  • Excellent report writing and project management skills, with the ability to manage workloads and deliverables independently.
  • A natural mentor and coach, supporting the growth and development of junior engineers.
  • The ability to collaborate effectively across teams and nurture positive internal and external relationships.
