OverviewCivil Engineer/Senior Engineer – Shrewsbury – £30,000 - £50,000 depending on level/experience.Our client works from four offices across the Midlands, offering an array of services – planning, architecture, building surveying, valuation and business consultancy – to help clients make the most of their assets. You will be part of a multi-disciplinary team of engineers, surveyors, archaeologists, planners and architects based in the Shrewsbury Office. The Engineering team is an integral and fast-expanding part of the firm, with extensive experience in the delivery of a broad range of development and infrastructure projects across multiple sectors. Responsibilities
Lead the engineering input on an exciting and varied portfolio of infrastructure schemes in the development sector, from feasibility through to construction. Assess and design site levels, highways and junctions, sewers, SuDS and flood risk management infrastructure. Support transport planning activities and, where relevant, prepare Transport Statements. Collaborate within a multi-disciplinary team of engineers, surveyors, archaeologists, planners and architects. Manage client relationships, provide fee quotes, arrange appointments and manage work to meet deadlines under your own initiative. Be prepared to travel throughout the country; the role is based in Shrewsbury with travel requirements.
Person Specification / Qualifications
Minimum of a HNC/HND or degree (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering; relevant professional qualifications are desirable. If not holding an IEng or CEng, demonstrate willingness to progress towards a professional qualification with a recognized body. Less experienced candidates with appropriate qualifications and some experience will be considered; training and mentorship through to professional qualification will be provided. Experience or expertise in the following core skills is desirable:
Preparing technical engineering reports Outline and detail drainage designs (SuDS and foul water) for various developments Design and appraisal of drainage networks using Flow or MicroDrainage Road and junction design, including construction-level detail Preparation of Transport Statements Experience of S38, S104, and S278 agreements and technical approvals Consultations with authorities (e.g., Highways England, EA, local councils, water companies) Site walkovers/assessments; interpretation of geotechnical reports AutoCAD, Civil3D and/or Causeway PDS Flood Risk Assessments; good working knowledge of CDM 2015 Full driving licence required
