Senior Commercial Counsel - Public Sector

Overview
Our client, a global leader in technology services, is seeking an experienced consultant to join their Public Sector legal team. The ideal lawyer will bring deep public sector experience, particularly in IT contracting, and be confident operating in a fast-paced, high-profile environment.
Responsibilities
- Advising on all phases of deals, from bid and proposal review through to negotiation and post-signature matters.
- Leading the negotiation of contracts for IT services, outsourcing (including BPO), consultancy, digital, and engineering services.
- Providing strategic legal advice to internal stakeholders and supporting Capgemini’s compliance programme.
- Identifying and managing legal and regulatory risks, particularly in relation to public sector frameworks and procurement rules.
Skills Required
- Strong knowledge of commercial and contract law, particularly in the context of technology, cloud, digital, data protection, and cyber security.
- Demonstrated experience supporting large, complex bids and transactions in the public sector.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to influence and guide business decisions.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, both written and verbal.
- Proven ability to manage multiple stakeholders and build relationships at senior levels.
- Resilience under pressure and ability to work to tight deadlines.
- Experience leading or mentoring legal teams, including offshore colleagues.
- A collaborative and inclusive working style, with a commitment to continuous improvement and innovation.
