Senior Commercial Finance Analyst

6-month Fixed Term Contract

We are looking for a commercially astute and delivery-focused Finance Analyst to support the Commercial Finance Team in UK Travel to focus on Supplier Income System Implementation and Governance. This is a hands-on role where you will work closely with project teams, as well as Commercial and Financial stakeholders to help shape and embed changes. You’ll utilise your core finance knowledge to ensure successful project completion.

The Role:

Working as part of the wider commercial analytics team, the Senior Commercial Finance Analyst will work as part of a close-knit team focussing on WHSmith’s supplier income. This role has a high degree of cross-functional collaboration and visibility.

Typical responsibilities include:

  • Use core accounting knowledge to support in delivery of successful Income Transformation Project
  • Support the implementation of new Supplier Incomes System, including testing, production of training materials and controls design
  • Collaborate with commercial and financial stakeholders to ensure solutions meet business needs
  • Identify process inefficiencies and recommend practical improvements that enhance accuracy and efficiency.
  • Provide hands-on support during transition periods, particularly during key finance cycles
  • Contribute to change management activities by engaging stakeholders, providing feedback, and ensuring the finance team is supported through change

The Candidate:

The ideal candidate will be autonomous, proactive and solutions focussed with an inquisitive and collaborative outlook. They will be comfortable navigating ambiguity and have strong cross-functional relationship management skills.

Required experience:

  • Qualified accountant (CIMA/ACCA/ACA)
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel
  • Strong knowledge of Supplier Incomes in a similar industry is highly desired, including recognition principles
  • A proactive mindset with the ability to problem-solve, work independently, and deliver at pace.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills—comfortable collaborating across finance and non-finance teams.
