Overview

Senior Commercial Manager - Payments and Shipping role at Gumtree.com. We’re looking for a strategic and operationally minded Commercial Manager (Marketplace Strategy Manager or a Commercial Product Manager) to lead the development and performance of our Payment and Shipping offering. You’ll play a critical role in ensuring a seamless, scalable, and customer-centric experience across our marketplace as we introduce Transactions and Delivery to the site. You’ll be responsible for driving commercial outcomes, go-to-market strategies, improving operational efficiency, and collaborating cross-functionally to enhance the end-to-end shipping and payment journey for buyers and sellers.

Location: London, hybrid working applies with 3 days in the office.

What you’ll do

• Own the Commercial Strategy and Operational execution of the Payments and Shipping product, aligning with the overarching company strategy and business goals.
• Undertake project management with complete oversight of initiatives, flagging risks and opportunities where appropriate.
• Own the Go-To-Market strategy to drive adoption and revenue growth.
• Manage marketplace operations, owning performance and establishing a strong feedback loop for continuous enhancements.
• Be highly data and insights driven, conduct market research and commercial analysis to identify trends and growth opportunities and report results.
• Work cross-functionally with product, engineering, commercial and operations teams across the UK and China to ensure alignment and effective execution of business initiatives.

What we’re looking for

• Experience in a similar Senior Commercial Manager, Marketplace Operations or Commercial Product Owner role in a fast-paced marketplace, digital platform or ecommerce scale-up. Subject matter expertise on ship and pay is required.
• Strong go-to-market and monetisation experience, including taking new products to market.
• Cross-functional experience, including collaborating with offshore product teams to optimise performance and implement new solutions.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven mindset to turn insights into action and outcomes.
• Proven track record of driving revenue and achieving growth objectives.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing market dynamics.
