Senior Consultant - ITAM (Microsoft Licensing Expert)

Location: York HQ, remote available.

Salary: £70,000 - £80,000

Overview of the Role: My client is a leading provider in digital workplace transformation, enabling UK organisations to innovate and achieve strategic goals through cloud, hybrid infrastructure, data, AI, security, and collaboration tools. We are actively expanding our specialist teams and are seeking an experienced Senior ITAM Consultant to act as a subject matter specialist. This critical role will drive delivery of high‑value IT Asset Management (ITAM) services and licensing optimisation consultancy across our client base.

Key Responsibilities

• Own and drive complex client engagements, focusing on maximizing value and ensuring compliance.
• Lead client engagements to design, implement, and optimise robust ITAM strategies, policies, and processes.
• Provide definitive expert advice on Software Asset Management (SAM) best practices across diverse environments.
• Conduct comprehensive ITAM maturity assessments and deliver actionable recommendations for governance and process improvement.
• Manage and deliver complex ITAM consultancy projects, ensuring outcomes meet defined client objectives, compliance standards, and commercial targets.
• Analyse intricate licensing agreements, contracts, and usage data to drive significant cost savings and mitigate compliance risk.
• Support clients in preparing for or responding to major vendor audits and license negotiations.
• Advise on ITAM tooling selection, deployment, and integration for leading platforms (e.g., Snow, ServiceNow, Flexera).
• Develop and deliver high‑impact workshops, training sessions, and knowledge transfer to both client teams and internal stakeholders.

Required Skills & Experience

• Extensive hands‑on experience in Software and Hardware IT Asset Management.
• Strong, demonstrable knowledge of complex Microsoft software licensing models.
• Proven success in delivering end‑to‑end ITAM/SAM consultancy projects.
• Direct, practical experience with leading ITAM tools, including License Dashboard (highly preferred), Snow, and ServiceNow.
• Strong analytical skills with ability to interpret complex licensing data and translate it into clear, strategic recommendations.
• Deep knowledge of ITAM governance, compliance frameworks, and cost‑optimization practices.
• Proven executive presence and ability to present complex ITAM insights to C‑Suite and senior executives.
• Highly skilled at tailoring communication style for diverse audiences.
• Strong stakeholder management and influence skills.
• Commercial acumen to balance commercial, technical and compliance perspectives.
• Strong project management skills for engagements from scoping to delivery.
• Awareness of adjacent disciplines such as IT Service Management, FinOps, Cybersecurity.
