Senior Data Solution Architect - Public Sector

Location: London (Hybrid/Remote First)

Type: Permanent | Full-Time

Security Clearance: Must hold or be eligible to obtain UK National Security Vetting (UK national or dual UK national)

An exciting opportunity has opened for a highly skilled Senior Data Solution Architect to join a growing consulting practice. This role is ideal for a seasoned professional with deep expertise in data architecture and technical delivery, particularly within a client-facing consulting environment.

You’ll work across industries to deliver cloud-native, real-time, and product-led data solutions, taking end-to-end ownership of architecture design and guiding high-performing engineering teams through successful delivery.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Architecting and delivering end-to-end cloud-based data solutions across multiple sectors.
  • Leading cross-functional teams (engineers, analysts, architects) in the delivery of scalable data platforms.
  • Engaging with stakeholders to shape technical strategy and own architecture decisions from concept to deployment.
  • Driving adoption of architectural patterns including Data Mesh, Data Fabric, and event-driven designs.
  • Designing and overseeing delivery of solutions using tools such as Databricks, Kafka/Confluent, and Snowflake.
  • Ensuring solutions are aligned with best practices in data governance, security, and compliance.

Skills & Experience Required:

Leadership & Delivery:

  • Proven experience as a Lead Data Architect or Data Solution Architect in a consulting or enterprise environment.
  • Strong background in project delivery, stakeholder engagement, and team leadership.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies (e.g. Scrum, SAFe, Kanban).

Technical Expertise:

  • Extensive experience designing data lakes, lakehouses, and event-driven data platforms.
  • Deep knowledge of cloud services (AWS, Azure, GCP), with emphasis on data architecture.
  • Hands-on knowledge of tools like Databricks, Unity Catalog, Kafka/Confluent, and Snowflake.
  • Experience with big data technologies (e.g. Apache Spark, Hadoop), Python, SQL, and cloud-native infrastructure.

Governance & Compliance:

  • Strong understanding of data governance principles and compliance standards (e.g. GDPR, HIPAA).
  • Experience implementing data security best practices across enterprise platforms.

Communication & Influence:

  • Ability to engage and influence stakeholders, including at the executive level.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to guide architectural decisions and mentor teams.
  • Certifications in data/cloud platforms (e.g. AWS Certified Data Engineer).
  • Familiarity with tools such as DBT, Apache Airflow, Atlan, and GIT-based CI/CD pipelines.
