Purpose of Role
The Crown Estate is seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Delivery Manager to lead the successful delivery of a diverse range of development projects across London and the Regions. This role is pivotal in scaling up our delivery and project management capabilities, ensuring excellence across pre-construction, construction, and handover phases. You will be instrumental in driving innovation, sustainability, and customer-centric outcomes across a £5bn development pipeline that includes housing, mixed-use regeneration, science and tech, and commercial offerings.
Context of Opportunity / Main Accountabilities
- Lead project management and delivery strategy implementation across new-build and heritage retrofit projects.
- Oversee procurement of construction contracts and consultant appointments, ensuring best practice and value creation.
- Champion a safety-first culture and embed health and safety policies across all delivery activities.
- Manage commercial aspects including change control, budget oversight, and monthly reporting.
- Drive sustainability outcomes including net zero, biodiversity, and social value creation.
- Foster strong relationships with tenants, supply chain partners, and community stakeholders.
- Collaborate with Development, Property Management, Asset Management, and Sustainability teams to ensure seamless project execution.
- Represent The Crown Estate at industry events and lead initiatives that promote innovation and efficiency.
- Support governance and reporting requirements including Quarterly Business Reviews and project control groups.
- Lead phasing strategies, buildability reviews, and stakeholder liaison with technical bodies.
- Promote teamwork, knowledge sharing, and a culture of continuous improvement across the organisation.
Most Important Skills-Based Requirements
- Proven experience in senior delivery, construction, and project management roles across complex development portfolios.
- Experience working on both contractor and client sides, with a track record of leading major new-build and refurbishment projects.
- Strong understanding of safety culture, risk management, and sustainability in real estate development.
- Skilled in financial management, commercial awareness, and public procurement practices.
- Ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams and deliver projects on time and within budget.
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
- Strategic thinker with a solution-oriented mindset and ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment.
- Professionally qualified with relevant industry experience and membership of a recognised professional body (e.g. Chartered Engineer, Construction Management).
- Committed to innovation, digital transformation, and delivering social impact through development.
- Understanding of the housing industry and strategic land development.
