Overview

The School of Social Sciences are looking to appoint a Senior Department Administrator. The successful candidate should have significant experience of providing excellent administrative support and experience of line management of a PS team. They must possess excellent problem solving and negotiation skills. They will engage in communities of practice to achieve continuous business improvement and standardisation, working in collaboration with colleagues in the Faculty and the wider University. The post-holder will be responsible for the line management of a small team of colleagues in the School department support team.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Deputy School Operations Manager (DSOM) and School Operations Manager (SOM) to deliver key operations activities across the School, and within departments, and to ensure efficient and effective support, advice and guidance is provided to all stakeholders.
  • Operate as part of the interdepartmental School Operations Team and report into the DSOM; undertake projects and champion activities on behalf of the School.
  • Demonstrate independent and collaborative problem solving; foster a culture of teamwork; support and develop continuous improvement to process and performance across the business area.

Skills and qualifications

  • Significant experience providing administrative support and line management of a PS team.
  • Excellent problem solving, negotiation, communication and interpersonal skills.
