Senior Design Engineering Consultant – Power Engineering & Renewables

Location:
South Wales Office (with travel)
Division: Power Engineering & Renewables

What You’ll Do

* Design & Simulation: Lead the design of earthing systems and carry out lightning protection risk assessments in accordance with BSEN 62305.

* Site Visits: Conduct onsite testing and inspection of protection systems at substations, power stations, and renewable energy facilities.

* Client Engagement: Manage key client relationships, address technical queries, and clearly communicate engineering outcomes.

* Reporting: Produce detailed technical reports and review outputs prepared by junior engineers.

* Team Support: Mentor and support junior engineers and graduates to promote professional development and team collaboration.

Qualifications

* Essential: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering

* Desirable: Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering

Experience

* Minimum 5 years of experience in earthing and lightning protection system design, assessment, and field testing.

Skills & Attributes

* Proficient in CDEGS, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office.

* Strong knowledge of UK standards for electrical infrastructure.

* Comfortable with regular travel and overnight stays (2–4 nights/week).

* Demonstrated ability to support and mentor junior staff.

* Collaborative, inquisitive, detail-oriented, and technically precise.
