Overview

Senior Design Manager role with leading Tier 1 contractor for a major new build student accommodation project in Surrey. This is a freelance opportunity with a minimum contract of 9 months. The project value is circa £80m and is associated with another new education building already underway.

Responsibilities

• Oversee Design Management for the student accommodation project with support from a Design Manager and Document Controller.
• Report to the Project Director; have regular progress meetings with the Regional Design Manager.
• Be involved from the start of the project, based initially in the regional office; on site then 4 days with the site team and 1 day remote or office.
• Work on CDP (construction design process) and identify key tasks to be carried out.
• Operate in a live site environment and quickly integrate with the team to provide design support.
• Contribute to implementing processes and procedures in line with Tier 1 contractor standards.

Requirements / Qualifications

• UK construction qualification essential.
• At least 10 years in contracting Design Management and a minimum of 5 years in the role of Senior Design Manager.
• Experience with leading construction companies and familiarity with design management processes.
• Ability to manage and challenge decisions while communicating effectively with diverse stakeholders.
• Residence within commutable distance to Surrey project.
