Their platform underpins a busy field engineering operation, and with growth comes complexity. They now need a DevOps / Systems Engineer to take full ownership of the infrastructure, replacing a consultant who’s been guiding things part‑time. This is a hands‑on role where you’ll set the standards, bring structure, and build the foundations the team needs for the next phase of growth. Own and run the AWS infrastructure that powers the entire platform. Act as the bridge between development teams and live operations, ensuring smooth and reliable delivery. Automate wherever possible. From deployments to monitoring to disaster recovery. Take a structured approach to systems architecture and set best practices for scalability and reliability. Over time, grow into a leadership role as the business scales, with the opportunity to build and manage a team underneath you.

Key Responsibilities

Building out event‑driven architecture with Lambda, Step Functions, EventBridge, SNS. Monitoring performance and health with New Relic, CloudWatch, Firebase. Ensuring third‑party integrations run reliably and securely. Automating processes with PowerShell. Overseeing failover, backup, and disaster recovery plans. Working closely with the security lead to meet modern cyber standards.

What we’re looking for

Proven background as a DevOps Engineer or Systems Administrator in AWS. Beneficial - Microsoft stack knowledge (Windows Server, IIS, .NET/C#, SQL Server). Hands‑on with AWS core services (EC2, RDS, S3, VPC, IAM). Experience with serverless (Lambda, EventBridge, Step Functions). Built and maintained CI/CD pipelines. Confident with scripting (PowerShell). Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or CloudFormation). You’ll be taking over from a consultant and given full ownership of the infrastructure. A growth journey: the business is targeting £3–4m ARR in the next few years with a clear plan for scaling.
