An exciting opportunity has arisen for a driven and dynamic Dietitian to join our team of over 65 Dietetic staff at King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

We are seeking to employ a motivated and experienced dietitian to join our Critical Care Dietetic Team. The post is a permanent contract dedicated to the dietetic support of the Adult Critical Care patients at King’s College Hospital (at the Denmark Hill site). You will be managed by the clinical lead specialist in Critical Care (Band 8a) and Critical Care dietitians (3.0 WTE Band 7) on supporting dietetic services for critically ill patients.

The successful candidate will have an opportunity to develop their clinical skills to provide specialist care for critically ill patients including:

Major Trauma,Neurosurgery,General Surgery, Spinal injuries, Neurology, HPB & Liver, Cardiology & Cardiothoracic Surgery, Respiratory Medicine, Orthopaedics, Haematology,Renal Medicine,General Medicine,Cystic Fibrosis.

Dietetics within Critical Care is a well-established service within King’s. King’s Critical Care is a world-class centre, one of the biggest in the country with 94 ventilated beds at the DH site. We have a brand new Critical Care Centre with 4 new state of the art Intensive Care Units. King’s Critical Care is a dynamic service with MDT patient care at the heart of its service.

Main duties of the job

This Band 6 0.8WTE Critical Care Dietitian post will be based at the Denmark Hill site.

The Senior Dietitian for Critical Care will be expected to work within a consultant led service and be responsible for the dietetic management of all patients within adult critical care, providing a comprehensive dietetic service to critically ill adult patients. This post will be supported by an 8a Critical Care Clinical Lead Dietitian and three Band 7 Critical Care Dietitians. The post holder will provide expert advice and guidance for other healthcare professionals. This involves attending ward rounds, meetings and to be actively involved with local strategic service planning groups. The Senior Dietitian for Critical Care will develop expertise in the complex management of all critical care patients and liaise with the critical care medical, nursing and MDT teams. The post holder will be actively involved with teaching of doctors, nurses and MDT members of critical care and also actively participate in dietetic and multi-disciplinary research and audit.
