Responsibilities

  • Lead across multiple impactful digital projects with cross-functional teams to deliver change, maintain core systems, and develop new services that support users.
  • Ensure robust project controls, manage risks and dependencies, and maintain clear governance and reporting.
  • Communicate effectively with Digital Directors and navigate complex issues that may require board-level decisions.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external suppliers to achieve results while fostering a high-performing team culture and coaching others to improve flow, quality, and ownership.
  • Champion continuous learning in project management, digital frameworks, and emerging technologies, mentoring others and helping shape standards across the delivery community.

What skills, knowledge and experience will you need?

  • History of taking full responsibility for the definition, documentation and successful completion of large-scale complex projects, preferably transformation, utilising both internal and external suppliers.
  • Experience establishing new teams and agile processes related to project deliverables and business as usual tasks.
  • Experience managing complex external dependencies requiring planning and prioritising to maintain pace and quality of delivery.
  • Clear, honest, and enthusiastic communication to build trust; ability to explain complex technical issues simply and influence senior-level decision making.
  • Identify and pursue development opportunities for yourself and your team to enhance delivery outcomes.
  • Demonstrated experience as a Project Manager taking full responsibility for large-scale complex projects, preferably transformation, with internal and external suppliers.

Location: You'll join us in one of our brilliant digital hubs in Blackpool, Leeds, Manchester, Newcastle or Sheffield, whichever is most convenient for you.

Hybrid Working: We work a hybrid model - you'll spend some time working at home and some time collaborating face to face in a hub.

Pay: We offer competitive pay of up to £68,205

Pension: You'll get a brilliant civil service pension with employer contributions worth 28.97%.
