Closing date: Wednesday, 15th October 2025. Location: London or Sheffield. This is a part-time fixed-term role, 28 hours per week. Salary: £33,000-£37,000 pro-rata, dependent on experience and location (+bonus +benefits). Start: parental leave contract starting in January 2026.

What you’ll be doing

You will be the editorial lead on a range of picture book titles, working collaboratively with authors, illustrators and agents to create the best possible books on an award-winning and bestselling list. Responsibilities include:

  • Read and review picture book submissions
  • Negotiate contracts
  • Champion titles at meetings
  • Liaise closely with design colleagues at every stage
  • Deliver books on time and on budget
  • Work with the Editorial Director of Picture Books and report to them
  • Bring ideas and a collaborative, organised and imaginative approach

This is a part-time position, and you will work 28 hours per week.

  • Experienced acquirer and editor of picture books
  • Excellent project management and editorial skills
  • Good understanding of the design and illustration process
  • Knowledge of the children’s market

Role can be based at London or Sheffield with a blend of in-office (3 days) and homeworking (2 days) per week.
