About the Position
Energy Exemplar's EMEA Data Team develops comprehensive short- and long-term energy market modeling datasets, available for purchase alongside the PLEXOS platform. A key focus is on Electricity Datasets covering historical and future market dynamics.
The Data Team Analysts craft commercial and simulation-ready energy market datasets for European markets, while collaborating with the global team to calibrate, tune, and enhance data quality and modeling methodologies used across datasets. You will review energy markets, gather data, and curate models for in-depth analysis, developing a profound understanding of energy market fundamental drivers such as demand/supply balance, generation dynamics, and emerging technologies. You will leverage this understanding to produce sophisticated PLEXOS-based models that capture current and future trajectories of European power markets. Knowledge of hydrogen and/or gas markets is beneficial.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the creation and enhancement of PLEXOS energy market models, integrating best practices and evolving techniques to maintain a competitive edge.
- Collaborate with the data team to calibrate datasets and integrate forecast data for high-quality PLEXOS outputs; work with the technical team to incorporate additional data sources.
- Drive cross-team coordination across the Indian Data Centre, technical, and product teams to improve data quality and refine methodologies.
- Produce analytical reports translating modeling results into actionable insights for decision-making.
- Conduct comprehensive market analysis by gathering and curating data to shape energy models for in-depth evaluation.
Key Skills & Qualifications
- Analytical proficiency in interpreting complex models and data patterns.
- Proactive problem solving and initiative-taking.
- Advanced Excel proficiency (programming skills not required).
- Database management knowledge for integrating diverse datasets.
- Experience in forecasting and modeling energy markets; strong understanding of market dynamics.
- Multilingual advantage; European language skills are a plus.
- PLEXOS modeling experience or experience with similar modeling tools.
- Meticulous attention to detail and clear communication of modeling results.
- Adaptability to client needs and ability to deliver solutions that meet evolving requirements.
Candidate Requirements & Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, or Mathematical Science.
- Experience in an analytical role solving complex problems and generating insights.
- Experience in electricity, gas, or fuels market analysis and/or forecasting.
- Background in consulting or a client-facing role.
