WSP has an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our growing Engagement team. We drive best practice in engagement, community relations, consultation and stakeholder management in the delivery of some of the country’s largest infrastructure projects as well as delivering expertise within the water, health, energy and environmental sectors. Within our Land, Infrastructure Planning and Engagement business unit, you will be supported by our team of senior engagement specialists to undertake the public consultation and engagement element of our work on projects and will act as a trusted client advisor. You will also be responsible for working collaboratively with colleagues across WSP to deliver engaging communications.

Your role responsibilities

  • Help communities and stakeholders understand projects and how they may impact them by writing easy to understand communications.
  • Provide opportunities for questions and feedback through publishing communications, organizing events, and running surveys.
  • Present feedback to help projects develop in a responsible way by understanding and interpreting data and presenting themes and key issues in reporting.
  • Support clients by providing communication and engagement advice and activities, including developing virtual consultation rooms, posters, banners, public facing maps, and community engagement events.

Qualifications and experience

Preferred qualifications / education

  • At least degree-qualified or relevant experience in a related field.
  • Membership of relevant professional or trade body is desirable.

Designed experience

  • Experience in the road, rail, utilities, water, environment or energy sectors.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading engagement processes across multi-disciplinary projects, including drafting stakeholder engagement strategies, conducting consultations, providing data coding and analysis, and report writing to meet legislative requirements.
  • Line management experience or experience managing junior team members through project delivery.

  • Strong team player with an enthusiastic and motivated attitude.
  • Well-ordered, structured approach to delivery of tasks, with flexibility in a demanding and fast-changing environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills to manage a varied workload.
  • Enthusiasm about growing your career in the communication and engagement field.
  • Strong writing skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work both as part of a team and autonomously.
  • Demonstrable communication or engagement experience.
