OverviewAs a Senior/Principal Engineer, you will be pivotal in driving the delivery of civil and bridge engineering projects and will use your knowledge and skills to deliver the right quality to time and budget. You will mentor and support junior team members.In This Role Your Responsibilities Will IncludeBridge design, both in the UK and overseasBridge managementBridge strengthening and repair, inspections and assessmentsGeneral civil and structural engineering support to other teamsFeasibility studies and options appraisalsPreparation of documents, reports and health and safety risk assessments, scheme designs and drawings, scheme feasibility studies and outline cost estimatesPreparation of fee estimatesSupervision of junior members of the team and CAD techniciansTeam and EnvironmentOur Civil and Bridge Engineering team in the South West & Wales is made up of more than 120 engineers, technicians and project management professionals with a breadth of backgrounds and experience. We are based in WSP’s city centre offices, with easy access to public transport and city centre amenities. We work across a wide variety of projects in the rail and highways sectors for clients including HS2, Network Rail, National Highways, Local Authorities, D&B Contractors and private sector clients.The team offers opportunities to broaden experience and skills across sectors through a culture of learning, development and support.What We Will Be Looking For You To DemonstrateIt is anticipated that you will be a Chartered Civil or Structural Engineer. This experience should include:Practical knowledge and experience of bridge design, maintenance and assessment from construction sites and design officesPractical knowledge and experience of project management of bridge projectsProven knowledge in design, maintenance and supervision of structures, with a track record of innovation in design and management of bridges and civil structures infrastructureProven working knowledge of the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB) and Manual of Contract Documents for Highway Works (MCDHW) in relation to structural schemesUnderstanding and experience of Eurocodes and their application to bridge designExperience of design in or assessment of steel, reinforced and prestressed concrete bridge structuresExperience of grillage, space frame and finite element analysis software packages such as LUSAS, Superstress and SAMGood communication, client handling and interpersonal skills; willingness to adapt to new challenges and to contribute to the development of the bridges teamIf you don’t meet all criteria, apply and we can see how your experience aligns to this role and other opportunities within the team.Why Join UsJoin our close-knit community of talented individuals who share a passion for making a positive impact.
