EM COR UK is accelerating its growth in the data centre sector, and we’re looking for a dynamic, results-driven Bid Manager with estimating experience to help shape our future. Reporting directly to the Director of Data Centres, you will manage the bid lifecycle from pre-qualification through to tender submission — ensuring commercially robust, innovative, and client focused solutions to our Design – Build – Manage – Maintain service model are provided.
In this key role, your expertise will provide essential technical insight, enabling you to liaise confidently with clients, designers, and operational teams to develop value for money and compelling proposals for mission critical infrastructure solutions. You will help shape the future of EMCOR UK’s integrated offering by delivering proposals that reflect sector leading standards in safety, quality, and standards.
Role Responsibilities
- Bid Management - Lead and coordinate the full bid process from initial opportunity assessment through to submission, ensuring all client requirements are met and internal governance is followed.
- Estimating - Prepare and review cost estimates, budgets, and tender price submissions for data centre projects — leveraging market knowledge, supplier input, and historical data to ensure accuracy and competitiveness.
- Collaboration - Work closely with pre construction, design, operations, commercial, and procurement teams to produce cohesive, fully integrated bid proposals.
- Client Engagement - Build strong relationships with prospective and existing clients, understanding their needs and positioning EMCOR UK’s solutions as the best fit for their project and operational requirements.
- Solution Development - Support the evolution of our design – Build – Manage – Maintain proposition for the data centre sector, shaping technical solutions that meet both client expectations and EMCOR UK’s service capabilities.
- Documentation & Presentation - Create clear, concise, and persuasive bid documentation and presentations that communicate technical details and value propositions.
- Market Intelligence - Stay abreast of market trends, client drivers, and competitor strategies in the data centre and mission critical environments to inform bid strategy and pricing.
- Risk Management - Identify and assess commercial and technical risks in bids, proposing mitigation measures and ensuring alignment with corporate risk policies.
- Reporting - Provide regular updates on bid pipeline, win/loss analysis, and key market insights to the Director of Data Centres.

Qualifications & Experience
- Significant demonstrable experience of leading Estimating & Bid Activity within a critical infrastructure environment that includes M&E, Civils, Fit Out, Asset Life Cycle replacement and Energy – ideally across the telecoms and Data centre sectors, within a value range of £0.5m - £15m.
- Exceptional ability to manage multiple bids to tight deadlines with precision.
- Strong interpersonal skills to work across disciplines and build relationships at all levels both external and internal.
- Deep understanding of commercial terms, risk management, and pricing strategies in a built environment.
- Strong communicator with outstanding written and verbal skills, able to present complex technical and commercial concepts clearly and persuasively, with high drive and energy levels.
- Attention to detail in cost models, tender documentation, and bid submissions.
- Ability to contribute to the continuous improvement of the Design – Build – Manage – Maintain model to meet evolving sector demands.
- Strong understanding of the full-service lifecycle—design, build, manage, and maintain—especially within data centre and telecoms; ideally degree qualified to degree level (or equivalent experience) with 5+ years of sector-specific experience and a strong performance history.
- Familiar with current estimating methods, commercial governance, and project management systems.
- Skilled in developing trusted relationships, with a customer-first mindset and consultative approach.
- Organised, tenacious, energetic, proactive, and solutions-focused—able to drive progress and deliver results.
- Technically qualified to a minimum of HNC.
