About The Role
Be part of this ‘once in a generation’ project that will deliver clean energy to 6 million homes for the next 60 years. Sizewell C will see the creation of a 3.2 Gigawatt nuclear power station on the Suffolk coast to provide reliable load low‑carbon electricity. The Civil Works Alliance is an extended delivery enterprise involving Sizewell C and three international construction companies: Balfour Beatty, Bouygues Travaux Publics and Laing O’Rourke. We are more than just an alliance; we are bringing together a single delivery organisation with years of learning and experience from other major complex infrastructure programmes worldwide.
What you'll be doing
- Feeding into the Lead Estimator and the Head of Estimating on the project to ensure consistency in estimating approach set out by the client.
- Work closely with a Lead Estimator or on own to produce various estimating documentation that can be assured both internally and externally.
- Developing estimates from 1st Principles associated with the work package of the Sizewell C Project.
- Be a senior member of the team developing the price, mentoring and supporting more junior members of the estimating team.
- Stakeholder management to produce the Estimate e.g., planning, procurement etc.
- Presenting, negotiating and justifying prices produced in an open and honest manner to both senior leaders within the business and/or external customers/partners.
Who we're looking for
Knowledge & Skills
- Essential: Proficient in the use of Excel and similar software.
- Excellent client facing/communication skills.
- Desirable: Experienced estimating background using Candy Estimating Software.
- Desirable: Experienced estimating background using RIB Cost X Quantification & Estimating Software.
- Desirable: Experience of working with the AACE principles of Estimating Class and associated maturity.
- Desirable: Mobile and flexible.
Qualifications & Experience
- Essential: Infrastructure Main Contractor background ideally in the civil engineering market.
- Essential: Commercial or operational background considered.
- Desirable: Chartered by relevant industry recognised chartership e.g., ICE, CICES, RICS, CIOB etc.
