Overview

Senior Estimator - Infrastructure (Solihull). Location: Solihull, West Midlands.

Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed cost estimates from first principles for infrastructure projects.
  • Create and implement tender strategies that offer competitive and sustainable pricing.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to support effective procurement.
  • Assess risks and identify opportunities for cost savings, including compiling risk registers.
  • Support post-tender activities such as interviews, negotiations, and handovers to delivery teams.
  • Propose innovative solutions to differentiate bids and increase competitiveness.
  • Prepare site preliminary estimates and ensure all tenders comply with corporate standards.
  • Collect and analyse feedback from completed projects to improve future estimating practices.

Key Skills & Experience

  • Strong experience in estimating for infrastructure or civil engineering projects.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and experienced with estimating tools (e.g., Candy).
  • Good understanding of NEC contracts and commercial practices.
  • Effective communicator with strong negotiation, influencing, and collaboration skills.
  • Organised and analytical, with excellent time management and decision-making abilities.
  • Professional qualifications (e.g., degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or related field) are advantageous.
