Overview

The Senior Field Service Engineer will be responsible for the safe operation, supervision, and maintenance of all PowerShield systems within the critical data environment of our customers. This role ensures maximum operational uptime of electrical infrastructure while directly performing installation and commissioning, preventive and corrective maintenance of system and coordinating with vendors and contractors. The Senior Field Service Engineer will also enforce compliance with safety regulations, company policies, and industry best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and perform daily maintenance activities at customer facilities, ensuring adherence to operational standards, safety protocols, and preventive maintenance schedules.
  • Troubleshoot issues and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime.
  • Oversee and perform the performance, maintenance, and testing of PowerShield systems in close collaboration and coordination with other vendors (UPS, batteries and other supporting infrastructure) as well as with subcontractors working under supervision.
  • Perform site surveys, on-site training, load bank/testing acceptance, and other required activities.
  • Provide support to customers by mail and phone until resolution.
  • Support for: System Forms, Ladder Inspections, Stock Check, PAT Testing, Equipment Calibration, Vehicle Inspections.
  • Ensure compliance with all local electrical codes, regulations, and facilities operational procedures.
  • Monitor and update maintenance documentation, including work orders, inspection reports, and equipment logs.
  • Support root cause analysis of incidents and implement continual improvement plans.
  • Liaise with contractors, vendors, and service providers for planned and corrective maintenance activities.
  • Provide regular reporting on site status, system performance, and team productivity.
  • Promote and ensure a culture of safety, compliance, and customer-focused service delivery.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Diploma or degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent technical qualification.
  • Professional certification or license (where required) is preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in electrical maintenance within critical facilities, data centres, or similar environments.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems: UPS, batteries, generators, switchgear, and critical power distribution.
  • Familiarity with preventive and predictive maintenance methodologies.
  • Proven leadership abilities with skills in team management and contractor oversight.
  • Understanding of health, safety, and environmental standards applicable to critical environments.
  • Ability to respond effectively in high-pressure, emergency situations.
  • Fluency in English is mandatory; French is a valuable plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Experience with ERP usage and financial management tools (e.g., XERO).
  • Office is located at PowerShield UK office in Milton Keynes.
  • 75–95% travel requirement depending on customer engagements (UK and Europe).

Geographical coverage & Scope

  • UK: Full scope described above.
  • Europe: Support and take the lead in some cases.

Travel

  • Travel in UK up to 95% (customers and on-site visits).
  • Travel in Europe: occasionally (to be defined later).
