Location: Derby (Hybrid – remote mix expected 3 days per week)

Rolls‑Royce is an iconic brand that designs, builds and services critical power systems for safety‑centric clients. This role supports the New Build & Components Delivery Business Unit of the Rolls‑Royce Submarines business, focusing on delivering naval platforms such as the Astute and Dreadnought programmes.

Job Description

As Senior Finance Business Partner (Grade B) you will partner with Delivery Business Units (DBUs) to drive financial performance, strategy, and market compliance.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Collaborate with DBU senior management to ensure business meets or beats financial commitments, identifying drivers of performance.
  • Develop DBU strategy and support business plans/cases.
  • Own key financial relationships with the Submarines Alliance in the Dreadnought Programme.
  • Produce balanced, challenge‑oriented forecasts with coherent assumptions.
  • Ensure contract reviews meet governance and challenge business performance.
  • Interface with the Customer, providing MoD spend forecasts, payment plan agreements and performance reviews.
  • Provide cost justification to MoD auditors and liaise with statutory auditors.
  • Manage DBU profit and loss and balance‑sheet control and fidelity.
  • Act as senior finance leader, delivering a leadership role in finance and the DBU’s first line.
  • Promote financial awareness, leading, engaging and developing direct reports.
  • Drive continuous improvement, champion compliance and sustain quality data.
  • Support HSE policies and be responsible for health and safety of all people in the area.

Qualifications

  • Qualified accountant with proven experience and time in a financial leadership role.
  • Experience with long‑term contract accounting (IFRS 15) and complex financial arrangements.
  • Strong commercial mindset, using financial insight for business performance and strategic decisions.
  • Effective senior‑level team leader capable of setting and managing budgets and forecasts.

Desirable (but not essential)

  • Knowledge or experience with Single Source Contract Regulations (SSCR).
  • Familiarity with IFRS 16 and finance lease accounting principals.
