Senior Finance Manager - PFI Expiry

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Team at Wye Valley Trust in Herefordshire. As a Senior Finance Manager you will oversee the financial management of the PFI Expiry project, working collaboratively with operational leadership, clinical teams and be a key part of the Finance Senior Leadership team.

The aim of the role is to provide proactive financial leadership of the highest possible standard advising on all aspects of financial management.

The post holder will have a senior role in the financial performance management of the PFI Expiry project and be expected to support, challenge and positively influence financial management. Working collaboratively to improve efficiency, effectiveness and achieve best use of resources.

This role is based across the main NHS sites in Herefordshire while also embracing the option of agile working, through a combination of on-site working and working from home, should this flexibility be attractive to the right candidate.

Main duties of the job

The role requires an enthusiastic, motivated and dedicated individual with excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work as a Senior Finance Manager.

This role will take the lead on all financial aspects of the transition from the existing PFI arrangements to the future services model in pursuit of agreed strategic objectives for the project. This will involve financial modelling to assess the Value for Money of multiple options.

The post holder will work closely with the PFI Expiry and Future Facilities Management (FM) service project teams to professionally influence decision making regarding the future FM service provision ensuring value for money and in line with the agreed risk profile.

Once the preferred model is agreed, the post holder will provide leadership and accountable financial management to the project setting up the services, ensuring the Trust's, NHSEngland (NHSE), Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) and Central Government's financial governance is adhered to.

Person Specification

Education & Qualifications

  • Professionally qualified as an Accountant with current CCAB or CIMA professional membership.
  • Commitment and evidence of continuing professional development in line with the post holder's professional accounting body.
  • Further specialist finance training and experience related to wider Healthcare finance.

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

  • Expert user of Financial systems and Microsoft Excel
  • Demonstrable evidence of influencing and persuading.
  • Highly numerate and analytical
  • Advance report writing skills
  • Understanding of current NHS structures and key policies
  • Knowledge of acute hospital and community healthcare environment
  • Ability to lead and motivate staff
  • Ability to prioritise, plan and prioritise workload effectively and in a manner which is sustainable
  • NHS Experience

Experience

  • Extensive expert knowledge and experience in NHS Financial Management or equivalent.
  • Significant experience at a senior level in the finance sector
  • Acute Sector Experience
