Overview

The Senior Financial Accountant role will be London based, reporting to the Senior Finance Manager. You will develop strong working relationships with our Offshore finance teams, as well as with external advisors and auditors. You will be a key finance point of contact for the business regarding accounting & finance operations processes, tax matters and supporting with financial accounting analysis. With the Company undergoing significant change and transformation, you may be called on to support various projects related to finance operations. Responsibilities

  • Preparation of the statutory financial statements and annual report under UK GAAP, including preparation of analysis and supporting documentation for note disclosures and accounting papers.
  • Support coordination and efficient completion of the annual audit process and financial statements, including quarterly reviews.
  • Assist with technical accounting matters relating to compliance with IFRS and Group accounting policies.
  • Carry out balance sheet analysis, report preparation, review of balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring good balance sheet hygiene and practices with support from Offshore and the wider finance team.
  • Support preparation and review of group reporting schedules, intercompany and tax analysis and other information required by Group teams.
  • Assist in preparing quarterly tax calculations, RDEC analysis, tax payments, reconciliations, and facilitating requirements of our external tax advisors, both in UK and Ireland.
  • Facilitate our JSOX analysis & reporting for key manual finance controls.
  • Accounting technical support to the business, particularly in relation to IFRS 15 and revenue accounting, lease and fixed asset accounting, impairment and pensions.
  • Working with our Offshore functions to ensure smooth operation of our finance processes, which includes performance and quality management, review and documenting processes & controls and supporting implementation of new processes or changes to existing processes.
  • Act as point of contact between the UK internal customers and the offshore functions to facilitate requests from the business and resolve issues and escalations.
  • Supporting cashflow reporting and analysis.
  • Assist with accounting & tax analysis for significant fixed asset, lease or other capital acquisitions.
  • Supporting tax analysis and compliance activities, including corporation tax, VAT and tax governance as required.
  • Provide accounting supporting for pensions, and cost analysis related to DB pension schemes.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 1-2 years post qualified ACA, CA, ACCA or equivalent.
  • Audit practice trained from a reputable firm.
  • IFRS trained with good knowledge of key accounting principles and experience of reporting accounts on an IFRS basis.
  • Familiarity with key principles of the UK tax framework, including corporation tax, and VAT.
  • Generalist knowledge and understanding of core finance operation processes and understanding of business process mapping & documentation.
  • Ability to manage end to end preparation of statutory accounts and the audit process.
  • Highly experienced with Excel and other Microsoft Office tools, strong financial analytical skills and clear written and verbal communication of finance matters.
  • Experience with large business ERP / accounting software. SAP desirable but not essential.
  • Able to work within an ambiguous, fast-moving environment while driving towards clarity and solutions.
  • Works effectively with others, building productive, collaborative relationships across departments and with third parties.
  • Have experience working cross culturally, in an international business environment.
  • Prepared to work in London 2 times a week.
