Position

Senior Financial Accountant - Watford

JSS Search are pleased to be supporting our client who are based in Watford in recruiting a Senior Financial Accountant position. The Senior Financial Accountant will be responsible for month end accounting, balance sheet, posting journals, VAT, intercompany and assisting with group consolidation and financial reporting.

This role is office based in Watford, during the probation period, and offers one day working from home each week after probation is passed.

Responsibilities

• Manage the routine period end process, ensuring all accounting adjustments are made, and costs are appropriately captured and reported on a periodic basis in accordance with IFRS
• Liaise with other departments as appropriate to ensure that all relevant considerations have been taken into account in the financial reporting process
• Periodic reviews to ensure that we are applying the tangible and intangible asset accounting policies ensuring good governance around capturing costs, accounting, and annual impairment assessments.
• Review of the monthly management accounts to ensure accuracy of period end numbers and to ensure cost accruals are well supported and verified
• Support the Accounting & Reporting Finance Manager and Reporting Financial Controller with implementing SOX across Financial Reporting and Accounting
• Preparation and review of key balance sheet reconciliations to ensure all accounts are reconciled and all balances substantiated in line with SOX
• In relation to preparation / approval of balance sheets and journals, be able to appropriately challenge and question underlying assumptions ensuring rigour and robustness across the financial statements
• Key responsibilities in the quarterly and annual audit cycles in terms of key deliverables to the external auditors and working as the liaison between wider finance and the audit team
• Support the preparation of the Financial Statements under IFRS as required
• Review and maintain accounting policies to ensure adherence to all relevant accounting standards and reporting requirements
• Support the Group Reporting team as required to ensure that intercompany processes are robust

Qualifications & Experience

• Qualified ACA or ACCA and audit/ or accounting practice trained
• I ideally 1-2 years experience in industry in a financial accounting role
• Solid technical knowledge of journals, reconciliations, consolidation and financial reporting
• Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups)

On Offer

• A salary of circa £70,000-75,000 plus 15% bonus and benefits
• Working in the office 3 days/week in Watford
