The Keegans Group is looking for a Senior Fire Engineer to join its Compliance and Safety Team. The role supports fire safety projects and reports to the Director of Compliance and Safety, collaborating with other members of the C&S Division.

The position is full time/permanent with a preference for London-based candidates but will consider applications nationwide.

Responsibilities

  • Attend and support project meetings and workshops with internal and external stakeholders, providing fire safety guidance and recommendations.
  • Review design information—including drawings, stage reports, and specifications—and issue fire safety related comments and advice, preparing technical reports and guidance notes.
  • Research the fire safety implications of new technologies, materials, approaches, and changing regulations, and provide guidance based on the findings.
  • Conduct qualitative and/or quantitative risk assessments and present results to stakeholders.
  • Cultivate a trusted internal network across the organization.
  • Generate fire safety strategy reports for projects of new and existing buildings.
  • Review and peer‑review external walls against PAS 9980 guidance.
  • Update and maintain internal best‑practice guidance and documentation, and prepare proposals for design or research services as required.
  • Prepare general technical guidance notes related to Fire Safety to support code‑compliant designs, and present at Group Knowledge Café or CPD sessions.
  • Manage project records using the Deltek project management system, including fees and forecasting of fee income for own projects.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Relevant degree or master’s degree in construction or engineering (e.g., surveying, fire safety engineering).
  • Professional membership with RICS, CABE, or IFE/IFSM.
  • Significant experience in fire engineering or a related discipline, with desirable experience in façade fire engineering.
  • Proficiency with BIM, AutoCAD or similar for design reviews.
  • Experience with CFD‑based modelling, quantitative probability/reliability analysis, and tools such as FDS for data analysis and model development.
  • Experience with regulatory and guidance frameworks including Building Regulations, Fire Safety Act, Building Safety Act, BS 9991 and 9999.
  • Self‑management of workload, tasks, and time to meet deadlines.
  • Willingness to assist the Director of Safety and Compliance when applicable.
  • Desire to work toward Chartered or Incorporated Engineer registration with the Engineering Council and IFE.
