What You’ll Do

  • Contribute to a clear technical vision for improvements in performance, observability and reliability on Yelp’s core pages.
  • Lead large migrations and tackle tech debt.
  • Deploy changes in a services oriented architecture.
  • Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and teams across the company to design and implement reliable, scalable systems.
  • Dive into experimentation data to identify issues and address customer needs, iterating on code as necessary.
  • Mentor fellow engineers and share knowledge to help grow the org’s full-stack expertise and domain knowledge.

What It Takes To Succeed

  • Ability to work with multiple teams and stakeholders to execute on high impact technical projects.
  • Relevant experience in at least one server-side programming language, preferably Python.
  • Relevant experience with JavaScript / TypeScript.
  • Familiarity with popular server-side web frameworks (Django, Flask, etc.) or modern JS frameworks (React, Angular, Vue, etc.).
  • Keen interest in tackling scalability, reliability, and performance challenges.
  • Comfortable working in a Unix environment.
