Senior Geotechnical Engineer – Manchester (Hybrid) – Full-Time | Permanent

Salary: £45,000 – £55,000 per year (Dependent on experience) + Benefits

About the Role

Alfred Recruitment is proud to be working with a leading UK civil and environmental engineering consultancy that is expanding its Geotechnical team in Manchester. We are seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer who is ready to take a proactive, influential role within the team and help shape the success of a new state-of-the-art office in the city centre.

This is a fantastic opportunity to step into a leadership role on a wide range of development and infrastructure projects — spanning residential, commercial, highways, and environmental sectors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the delivery of geotechnical and geo-environmental investigations and designs
  • Prepare and review technical reports, including risk assessments, remediation strategies, and foundation designs
  • Interpret geotechnical data and contribute to the development of ground models
  • Advise on retaining walls, slope stability, ground improvement, and foundation solutions
  • Support junior team members with training and mentoring
  • Collaborate with clients, local authorities, and multidisciplinary teams

What We’re Looking For

  • 8+ years’ experience in geotechnical engineering, ideally within a UK consultancy
  • Experience working across the full project lifecycle, from site investigation to construction
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, GEO5, or similar design tools
  • Confident communicator with excellent report writing and team leadership skills
  • A degree in Geotechnical or Civil Engineering, or a related subject
  • Working towards or already holding Chartered status is desirable
