- We'll look to you to steer our governance framework with precision and insight, while collaborating closely with colleagues across Corporate Governance, and the wider bank, including the Leadership Hub and the Executive Committee, to uphold and enhance our corporate governance structure as a critical framework for strategy execution

- You'll work from home some of the time, but you'll also spend time working from the Edinburgh or London office
What you'll do
This unique position will see you providing insight, advice and support that directly impacts the bank's direction. As the Group Executive Committee Secretary, you'll act as a trusted advisor, offering advice on a range of corporate governance matters up to the Group CEO, the Executive Committee and board directors. You'll also identify opportunities to refine governance frameworks and processes, driving a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
We'll look to you to expertly manage relationships, delivering concise and impactful briefings. You'll act as a key point of contact for senior executive stakeholders, including the Group CEO, the Executive Committee, and the broader leadership team for advice on corporate governance matters. You'll also ensure that the statutory records of our businesses are maintained in line with legal and regulatory requirements.
Your top priorities will include:
- Leading on corporate governance activities and projects that are relevant to the job, including the provision of secretarial support to the bank's Executive Committee
- Effectively managing relationships with senior executive stakeholders and their teams on corporate governance matters
- Providing governance advice and support to senior executives, boards and committees, including drafting corporate governance papers as required
- Advising on legal entity management issues, governance simplification, and management accountabilities
- Operating in line with our policy framework and supporting our bank to comply with our corporate governance policy, subsidiary governance framework and regulatory requirements, including those linked to the Senior Manager's Regime
- Keeping up to date with all relevant legal and regulatory developments to ensure that local policies are updated accordingly
The skills you'll need
To be successful in this role, you'll need knowledge of our bank's structure, its businesses and key issues facing the businesses and the ability to manage highly confidential information in a discreet and professional manner. In addition, you'll need an understanding of corporate governance best practice and have experience of working in a regulated environment.
You'll also need:
- To be a collaborative team player that's capable of building good working relationships up to an executive level across the bank
- Excellent verbal and written communication, presentation and organisational skills
- The ability to manage multiple tasks, anticipate problems, react to changing priorities, challenge others and assert your views when required
- Experience of producing comprehensive and clearly structured minutes or briefings, with an ability to translate complex information into a digestible format
