This is the perfect role for a Senior Highways Engineer who is looking to move to a trusted consultancy in Wakefield. This client is expanding their office and are on the hunt for a Senior Highways Engineer to lead a small team.

The role

  • Assist Director and Associate Director in establishing new business with new and existing clients.
  • Training and direction of Civil staff.
  • Mentoring junior colleagues within the Civil team.
  • Implementing company policy.
  • Implementing marketing strategy in association with the Associate Director/ Director – Business Development.
  • Implement Health and Safety policies and procedures on projects and oversee team’s compliance.
  • Participate in Workplace Health and Safety committee.
  • Collection, preparation, and compilation of bids and fee proposals
  • Assist Associate Director in compilation of Civil monthly results reports to include invoicing, fee forecasts

What you need to succeed

  • Educated to a minimum Degree level in Civil Engineering, or equivalent;
  • Experience in managing and leading client relationships, reporting on progress and managing work within budget and to programme;
  • Able to check and sign off technical design work
  • Experience in the planning, design and construction of residential, commercial and industrial developments from conception to technical approval;
  • Experience in working in collaborative teams with clients, contractors, external design team members, local authorities, statutory bodies and other third parties;
  • Design and specification of civils drainage, earthworks and / or highways;
  • An understanding of service utilities, drainage and external works design and modelling;
  • Ability to prepare reports on technical matters;
  • Use of technical design tools such as Civil 3D, MicroDrainage and AutoCAD, or equivalents.
