How You'll Make a Difference

The HR Casework and Change team enables our council to perform people management responsibilities effectively through the provision of consistent and practical HR advice. As a Senior HR Advisor you will support managers to embed the social care reforms.

What You Will Be Doing

  • You will lead the HR requirements for the significant workforce change project related to the upcoming social care reform.
  • Daily you will deliver consultancy and practical advice to the People Department, managing complex cases covering a wide range of people management issues.
  • You will ensure appropriate consultation and involvement with staff, trade unions and partner organisations.
  • You will apply your problem solving expertise to deliver solutions that are legally compliant, mitigate risk and work for our customers.
  • You will assist with job analysis and design in relation to this project and periodically chair validation panels.

What We Need From You

  • You are professionally qualified, ideally to Associate CIPD (intermediate level) or have an equivalent level of experience in a similar role.
  • You have proven contemporary HR delivery experience and sound technical expertise in employee relations legislation, casework practice and change management principles, ideally gained within a complex operating environment.
  • You have excellent written and spoken communication skills to provide robust advice and influence a wide range of stakeholders.
  • You will be trained in job evaluation methodology, Hay preferable (or willing to be trained in Hay methodology), and be able to chair validation panels.
  • You have effective reasoning and analytical skills and the ability to form well‑reasoned advice.

What You Need To Know

  • Your salary is pro‑rata to hours worked.
  • This is a limited‑term contract, due to end 1st June 2027.
  • All applications will be initially reviewed and if shortlisted you will be invited to complete a short psychometric assessment, followed by an interview in our office in Yate.
  • This role is a hybrid position based in Yate with some work from home.
  • Internal secondments are possible – seek line manager permission before applying.
