Overview

£55,181 - £58,269 per annum - includes market supplement of £8,000 per year. Torbay Council is seeking a Senior Property Lawyer to join our Legal Services Team to support our regeneration caseload. This varied role provides a platform to be actively involved in agendas related to the investment and prosperity of Torbay, its residents, businesses and wider communities. Responsibilities

  • Provide clear and accurate non‑jargon legal advice.
  • Apply analytical and problem‑solving skills to a fast‑paced and varied caseload.
  • Influence and persuade others in a professional way at a high level, inside and outside of the Council.
  • Support, supervise and provide guidance to junior colleagues where appropriate.
  • Contribute to regeneration and investment projects and related legal matters.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Qualified legal professional (Barrister/Solicitor/CILEX) with suitable training as a legal advisor and advocate.
  • Experience of working within a legal environment and providing supervision to junior colleagues.
  • High level knowledge of law and procedure within the specialist discipline; general awareness of Torbay Council policies and aims.
  • Experience of delivering clear legal advice in English and meeting immigration requirements as applicable.

Requirements

  • Ability to converse at ease with members of the public and provide accurate spoken English as part of the role.
